Four Areas of Care
Healing children requires more than a single service. Children are whole beings - body, mind, and spirit. Each of these must be nurtured for true restoration to take place. Guided by Luke 2:52, our desire is that every child who comes through our doors would grow "in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man."
This holistic approach is what sets Mountain States Children's Home apart. Children are welcomed into safe, loving, family-style homes where their educational, physical, spiritual, and emotional needs are intentionally supported.
Educational
By providing a quality education, we help our youth develop critical thinking skills, self-discipline, and resilience. Overcoming academic challenges builds confidence and prepares them for future opportunities.
Physical
Physical health is crucial during adolescence. Access to exercise strengthens their bodies, reduces stress, and establishes lifelong habits. Beyond this, our youth live in nurturing homes with a mother and father figure who ensure their nutritional, clothing, and medical needs are met.
Spiritual
Spiritual growth is essential for a fulfilling life. Our youth engage in daily Bible classes, devotionals, and church activities with the Longmont Church of Christ. These experiences foster hope, gratitude, and integrity, providing guidance for those overcoming difficult pasts.
Emotional
Adolescence is a pivotal time for emotional development. On-site counseling offers our youth a safe space to process their feelings, manage stress, and build healthy relationships. Emotional support nurtures empathy, self-worth, and the ability to connect with others.
History
Founded in 1960, Mountain States Children's Home began as a simple but powerful dream - to provide care, stability, and hope for children in need. What started with a small group of committed believers grew from a single vision into a lasting ministry serving children and families not only in Colorado, but across the United States.
That vision led to the purchase of 155 rural acres north of Longmont, intentionally chosen to provide a safe, peaceful environment with room to grow. The original farmhouse served as both the first children's home and the center of daily operations, laying the foundation for what would become a thriving campus.
Over the years, MSCH has expanded to include multiple family-style homes, a school, administrative offices, recreational facilities, and program space. In 2021, MSCH also launched a Transitional Living Program in Berthoud to support young adults as they step into independence with guidance, accountability, and practical support.
Since its beginning, MSCH has remained a private, nonprofit organization, supported entirely by generous individuals, churches, businesses, and community partners. Through their faithfulness, hundreds of children and families have been given new beginnings and renewed hope. When you give or volunteer, you become part of that continuing story for generations to come!
