Fitness Program Teaches Health and Values

A group of Steve’s Club Battle Ready Crossfit coaches came to Mountain States Children’s Home with an opportunity to introduce and volunteer to coach a children’s fitness program.  A decision was made by counselors and staff to integrate this activity into the campus school as a PE segment to help the children get physical exercise amid the mental exercise of the classroom.  The program model teaches perseverance, integrity, courage, encouragement of others in the program, and develops motivation.

Being fit and healthy is important to the well-being of any person. The heart, mind, and soul all benefit from exercise and proper nutrition.  There is instruction throughout the months that share the importance of practicing health in nutrition and through physical activity. There is also the idea of competing with “you”, at your individual pace to achieve your goals. They begin with a time test and in the course of the workouts, they find that through diligent hard work, they will improve. These improvements are made in attitude, action, self-esteem, strength, stamina, and discipline.  This program also focuses on encourage those who are working the program with a team approach.

The program has grown with opportunities for our children to participate twice a week.  The Mountain States Children’s Home children are an inspiration through their hard work and accomplishment provided by this fitness program.

1Co 9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

1Co 9:25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

1Co 9:26 Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air.
