What You Can Do!
You have learned of MSCH's history, it's children, it's mission, and it's non-profit statis, many ask the question, "How can I get involved in this work?". Volunteers are very important to the success of our programs! Mountain States Children's Home is a work that involves many people that come from churches, community groups, business, and individuals of the Rocky Mountain region and beyond. As you might expect, we are more than happy to answer the question, "What can I do to become involved with the work at MSCH?"
Most importantly, we covet your prayers. For MSCH to continue to grow, and especially if we are to increase our effectiveness with children we require your prayers. It is the prayerful support of the saints of the Rocky Mountain region that has brought MSCH to its current level of operations and opportunity for growth. For us to pursue the plans we have laid out for MSCH during the next two to five years, we again will require the support of the congregations of the "Mountain States". Remember, MSCH is your (His) Church at work!
Listed below are obvious and not-so-obvious ways in which you can become involved with the work at MSCH. If you do not see an item that you were thinking about, that is not a problem - please contact us anyway.
Encourage your congregation to include MSCH as a line-item on its annual budget. |
Contribute regularly to MSCH, even if your congregation already supports MSCH through its budget. Advocate that other members of your congregation do likewise. |
Furnish MSCH with an updated membership list for your congregation. Include addresses, zip codes, and phone numbers. |
Relate the MSCH story to professionals in your congregation. Urge them to take a second look at this work. Advocate that they inform their colleagues, professional associates, and civic organizations about MSCH and how it is meeting the needs of society. Let them know that it is through their money, time and material contributions that MSCH will survive. |
As you and your brethren draw up wills, please remember MSCH. It is even possible to name one of MSCH's children as a beneficiary. |
You are our eyes and ears. Please keep us informed when you become aware of community or corporate grants for which MSCH might qualify. If your company has a matching grant/donation program, think of MSCH and how that money would be put to use in the programs outlined within this site. |
Pick out a set of houseparents and offer your support and backup. Give them an "evening off" occasionally. Pick out a need in thier cottage and provide for that need. Just check on them occasionally. |
Volunteer to help MSCH Staff with mailings such as appeal letters and the MSCH Concern. |
We can always use tools, lawnmowers, garden hoses, and appliances that are in good condition (please remember: if you can't fix it, we probably can't either!). |
Pay for a day at MSCH. This is a real boost to MSCH and a neat project for classes, study groups, etc. One day of operations at MSCH currently costs $700.00. |
As our eyes and ears, be on the lookout for members of your congregation that are qualified professional accountants, lawyers, or psychologists/psychiatrists. Tell them of MSCH's great works and that we are attempting to expand our Board of Directors in these fields. |
Help support MSCH's farm program by donating livestock, or perhaps seed for alfalfa or wheat. |
Any time you wish to give to MSCH is appreciated greatly. We always have a need for adults to help our children learn about machinery and shop equipment. Most of our children need tutoring in selected subjects. All of our children love recreational activities and would enjoy sharing Colorado's beauty with you. |
